The Independence School presents
An Evening with Award-Winning Author Steve Sheinkin 

The Independence School (Pike Creek) is hosting a presentation and book signing by Steve Sheinkin, the award-winning author of "fast-paced, cinematic histories for young adult readers," on Tuesday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m.  This event is free and open to the public.

Steve Sheinkin's work is widely acclaimed. The Port Chicago 50: Disaster, Mutiny, and the Fight for Civil Rights received the 2014 Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Nonfiction and was a National Book Award finalist. The Notorious Benedict Arnold won the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for nonfiction. His exploration of the atomic bomb, Bomb: The Race to Build-and Steal-The World's Most Dangerous Weapon was a Newbery Honor Book, National Book Award finalist, and winner of the Sibert Informational Book Medal, as well as the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults. Most Dangerous: Daniel Ellsberg and the Secret History of the Vietnam War was a National Book Award finalist and a YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction Award finalist. 

Steve studied communications and international relations at Syracuse University and worked as a textbook editor and writer while launching his career as a writer of books for young adults. He lives with his family in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Learn more at www.SteveSheinkin.com.
